Leave a little space between speaking and sending.

Use dictation for first drafts while keeping control of names, tone, text insertion, and the final send action.

Start with a thought, not a performance

Dictation works well when you know what you want to say but do not want to compose every keystroke. Speak one useful unit: a reply, a paragraph, or the outline of a proposal. Leave a short pause between ideas so the resulting text is easier to review.

A first draft can include a restart or a change of mind. Keep the raw transcript available when using an optional rewrite. That makes it possible to inspect what changed rather than accepting polished wording as proof that the meaning survived.

Make repeated language dependable

Use a personal dictionary for names and specialist terms. Use snippets for text that should be identical each time, such as a recurring introduction. Review shared snippets as a team: an outdated statement copied perfectly is still an outdated statement.

Application preferences can help set the right tone for a document or message. They should remain understandable and editable. You should be able to tell whether a result was transcribed directly, adjusted by a deterministic rule, or rewritten by a hosted model.

Keep the last action yours

Check the destination before inserting private text. Switching between two fields inside the same application is still a destination change. If an app cannot verify the original field, a manual insertion fallback is preferable to a confident paste into the wrong conversation.

Review the inserted text before sending. Pay particular attention to names, numbers, and any sentence that commits another person to an action. The useful speed gain is reaching a good draft sooner, while keeping the final decision visible and under your control.
